diamond necklace

I LOVE cities!
That’s a fact about me that you probably already knew, if you’re following my twitter @citysandra :)

Right after the usual sightseeing attractions, my next must-sees in town are sewing & craft accessory shops.
In NYC I fell in love with M&J Trimming, in Istanbul I found the ‘crafting quarter’ with numerous little businesses right next to each other — one street featuring only chain stores, the next alley all about buttons & patches and around the corner: fabric stores as far as the eye can see!
Due to limited time and (more importantly) carry-on baggage size restrictions, my shopping spree was limited to some chains from this store. All the chains where about €2 in total!
Here in Vienna I think it’s pretty hard to find good quality but reasonably prized crafting equipment… I’m still looking for my trusted sewing accessories store around. Lately, I try to get a hold of some very cheap sale necklaces that I can ‘exploit’ for projects like this one. If you want thicker chains, the hardware store is the best bet.

Some chains, clasps, jump rings (I found the silver triangles here) and long nosed pliers are basic equipment to get started.

For this project I used the thinnest black&gold chain I’ve ever seen…

I got black geometric ‘diamond’ earrings on sale at Clair’s for €1 which are perfect as a pendant, but you can literally use anything to create your personal signature piece.

I’m still crazy about that necklace with its subtle golden shimmer, sporting it almost every day!
